CSEA offers a number of important awards that help us inspire greater levels of volunteerism even as our sensational volunteers inspire other Members. Help us by submitting nominations!

Recognizing a volunteer that is not an Enrolled Agent Professional Associate or Student Associate and whose efforts have contributed toward the enhancement and/or improvement of Enrolled Agents or the State Society or local Chapters.

Any person who is not an EA Professional Associate Student Associate or employee of the Society and who during the prior and current CSEA fiscal year has contributed toward the enhancement and/or improvement of Enrolled Agents or the state Society or local Chapters. The award is based solely on volunteer efforts. People who have acted in concert may be jointly nominated and will be considered one nomination.

Previous Recipients

Recognizing the Chapter that has made significant progress toward achieving the objectives of the Mission of the Society.

Bestowed on the Chapter that in the opinion of the Board of Directors has made the most significant progress toward achieving the Mission of the Society. It serves as a measure of what can be done to improve the status of EAs locally statewide and nationally. How to nominate your Chapter: Contact the President of your Chapter for specific details. The nomination must cover activities and accomplishments of the Chapter achieved during the current CSEA fiscal year. Specific items to address may include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Membership retention/growth efforts 
  • Number of Chapter meetings held and attendance 
  • Discussion of educational opportunities made available to Members 
  • Public Awareness efforts 
  • New Member participation in leadership roles 
  • Public service activities 
  • Any innovative and/or creative activities 
  • Newsletters and other means of communication with Chapter Members

Previous Recipients

Providing special recognition for Members who through lengthy volunteer involvement have made significant contributions to the enhancement of the reputation recognition or success of the California Society of Enrolled Agents.

Nominations for this Award are made by the Distinguished Service Award Task Force.

Previous Recipients

Recognizing Member contributions that significantly enhance or improve the status of Enrolled Agents or CSEA.

Any Member of the Society in good standing other than the current President or Immediate Past President is eligible. Award honors those who the prior and current CSEA fiscal year contributed significantly to the enhancement and/or improvement of the status of EAs or the California Society of Enrolled Agents. The Award is based solely on volunteer efforts and Members who have acted in concert may be jointly nominated and will be considered one nomination.

Previous Recipients

Allows Chapter Presidents to submit a request for a Member to receive a special letter of recognition/commendation from the CSEA President. The request should include the reasons the individual is worthy of special recognition.

Chapter Presidents are not limited as to how many requests may be submitted but the intention is to preserve a sense of value to be attached to these letters by the recipient. A Member may deserve recognition for the a specific act continual “good deeds” conduct that enhances the EA profession or designation service to the Society Chapter or community setting good examples or other noteworthy behavior.

Requests may be submitted to the CSEA President care of the CSEA office at any time throughout the year.

This Award is to recognize and honor a Member(s) of the Society who has contributed significantly toward CSEA’s membership goals through volunteer efforts innovative ideas and accomplishments in the area of member retention and recruitment of new members.


Previous Recipients

Honoring an individual a group of individuals or an organization for assistance in advancing the goals of the Society.

There is no formal nomination process for this award other than written communication to the President of CSEA. The nomination should be concise and no longer than 50 words. The President has sole discretion whether to make such an Award. A nominee for this Award may not be a nominee for any other award of the Society for the same service.

Recognizing Professional Associate contributions that significantly enhance or improve the status of Enrolled Agents or CSEA.

Eligibility: any Professional Associate who is not an Enrolled Agent and not an employee of the Society and who during the prior and current CSEA fiscal year has contributed toward the enhancement and/or improvement of EAs or the state Society or local Chapters. The award is based solely on volunteer efforts. People who have acted in concert may be jointly nominated and will be considered one nomination.

Previous Recipients

This award is to recognize a volunteer who has made significant contributions in the area of Public Information and Awareness and in promoting the Enrolled Agent designation and profession.

This award will be given to individual who in the opinion of the Board of Directors has made the most significant contribution in the areas of PIA awareness through but not limited to public or media appearances public awareness administration or campaigns creative use of technology in the promotion of the Enrolled Agent designation and the use of social media. PIA efforts on a local and statewide level qualify for this award.

Previous Recipients

Recognizing Student Associate contributions that significantly enhance or improve the status and knowledge of Enrolled Agents in the academic field in California.

Eligibility: any Student Associate who is not an Enrolled Agent and not an employee of the Society and who during the prior and current CSEA fiscal year has contributed toward the enhancement and/or improvement of EAs or the state Society or local Chapters. The Award is based solely on volunteer efforts. People who have acted in concert may be jointly nominated and will be considered one nomination.

Previous Recipients

Recognizing exceptional contributions toward the fulfillment of CSEA’s educational goals.

Any person other than the current President or Immediate Past President is eligible to receive the Thomas P. Hess Award. The Award is bestowed on a person for exceptional voluntary contributions toward the fulfillment of the educational goals of the Society.
