Become a CTEC Registered Tax Preparer 

If you plan to prepare taxes in California, registration with the California Tax Education Council (CTEC)  is required. Students who complete CSEA’s Basic Tax program with a score of 70% or higher meet the qualifying education requirement to become a CRTP, and CSEA reports successful completion to CTEC. 💠Work at your own pace with access to online tax prep labs and the Basic Tax Learner Forum.

💠Tax prep labs are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 6:30–8:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

💠Labs run from August 11 to December 15, 2026.
