Educating America

EDUCATING AMERICA: Bringing the EA Profession to U.S. Colleges
The NAEA Educating America initiative has been developed to raise awareness of the enrolled agent (“EA”) career option among community college students across the country. While most financial information students are aware of careers in accounting and bookkeeping, few are aware of the EA license, the most expansive license awarded by the IRS.
Mention a career in taxation, and most students think about becoming a CPA. That requires completing 150 semester hours in college, which usually means the students must stay in school for five years or complete a graduate program. There is no educational requirement to become an EA. Candidates must pass a stringent three part test on taxation (the “Special Enrollment Exam”) administered by the IRS. This NAEA course will prepare students to pass that exam.
On this website, you’ll find information on a career as an EA, and on getting the EA course into your college. NAEA is standing by to help you. If you are an educator interested in bringing the course to your institution or a student looking for a course near you, please contact info@naea.org. NAEA partners with Gleim Publications, a well-known and respected source of review books and software, to design programs to meet the specific needs of your college.
